The first ever 12 hour adventure race in the South!
Ever wanted to test your fitness boundaries at a longer event but was put off by the amount of preparation, all the extra kit and that long haul north? Well, now is your chance, at the DARE; a 12 hr Endurance event on 2nd October 2010, in the Forest of Dean. The event will involve a range of disciplines and will be open to pairs only.
Event Details
On Saturday 12th June the entries for the Dynamic Adventure Racing DARE event, to be held in the Forest of Dean in early October, opened at 10:00 am sharp. Competitors were asked to apply by email in the first instance, which would allow the race directors to manage the applications accurately by time and order of arrival. By 10:02 am all 20 places had been snapped up and the reserve list was building fast. Nicky and Simon are now looking forward to checking out the course over the summer, which this year will be planned by Tom Gibbs, current World Adventure Racing Champion and local resident.
The Return of the DARE
After much speculation we are pleased to announce that the DARE will return this year in October. The location with be The Forest of Dean, an old stomping ground for the Ace Race 2 day events that we all fondly remember. A great location that offers varying terrain and easy access from most parts of the country.
The course planner this year will be Tom Gibbs, current world Adventure Racing Champion who uses the area as his play ground. We're certain Tom will design a great course, taking competitors to the best parts of the forest and surrounding countryside, but unfortunately he won't be able to join us on the day as he will be defending his world title with the rest of the Helly Hansen Prunesco team. We wish them well and hope that the title stays in the UK for another year.
